Who Should Meditate?

People who want to feel relaxed and confident.
People who want to reduce stress in their lives.
People who want to soar beyond the everyday boundaries of life and experience.
People who want to experience planes of existence most people never reach.
People who want to get to know their true self.
People who worry a lot.
People who are always on the go.
People who feel tired or overworked.
People who are anxious or blue.
People who feel like they never have a minute to themselves.

Meditation Highs - Easy Ways to get High Naturally!

  • Breath Meditation: Meditation involves focusing on one thing, such as breathing. Breathing is very handy for meditation because you can do it anywhere, anytime, and it doesn't require any special equipment other than lungs. This is a great meditation for getting started.

    1. Sit upright in a chair or on the floor.

    2. Close your eyes.

    3. Breathe fully and naturally through your nose.

    4. Become aware of the air passing in and out of your nostrils.

Simple, eh? All you have to do is pay attention to your breathing. If your mind wanders off, just bring it back to the breath circulating in and out of your nose.

  • Sound Meditation:  In Buddhism, the syllables om, ah, and hung (pronounced hoong, with a soft h) have special meaning. Each sound expresses different aspects and healing qualities of the Buddha.

    1. Om represents the enduring strength and beauty of our true nature - the Buddha body (or garden within). Singing Om brings serenity, courage, and steadiness.

    2. Ah is the eternal expression and energy of reality - the Buddha speech. Ah is associated with energy and empowerment.

    3. Hung is the perfection of reality's oneness and connectedness - the Buddha mind. Singing Hung brings enlightenment and oneness with the infinity of all being.

Note. There is no right way to chant or sing sounds. Focus on your breathing, and your sound flow out naturally. You can chant syllables at the same pitch, or you can vary the notes. You can sing softly or loudly - it's all up to you!

  • Meditating on Objects:  Many people meditate by focusing on an object. The object could be the flame of a candle, a flower, a pinecone, a rock, a shell, a piece of artwork like a mandala, or even something in nature like a tree or waterfall.

    1. All you need to do is focus your attention on the object.

    2. If it's a small object, place it at eye level, 12 to 18 inches away from your eyes. If it's a large object, you want it to fill your vision without overwhelming you.

    3. Gaze at the object. Don't stare - just look at it. Notice the objects shape, color, texture, and everything else as if you were seeing it for the first time. If your mind meanders, just refocus on the object.

The Wandering Mind - You're NOT Alone!

Virtually everyone who meditates experiences the wandering mind. We prefer to call it the "Monkey Mind" for its sheer ability to wander, worry, hold a conversation, and rehash the day all while you're trying to just BE! The best way to deal with the "Monkey Mind" is to avoid getting upset and feeling as though you're doing anything "wrong". Just relax, let the thoughts pass through you, and return to your meditation. Your consistency, perseverance, and self-discipline will strengthen your will power and allow you to climb the mountain of peace, love, joy, light, and truth.

"I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering." - Steven Wright

"When you try to stop activity to achieve passivity, your very effort fills you with activity." - Seng Ts'an
