Finding Magical Places: My wife and I manage to find magical places wherever we go. Mother Nature has convinced us that the best things in life are free. We believe that a magical place is within a hour walk (or much less) of nearly everyone in North America. Here's how we find magical places.
1. If you live in a city or suburbia, parks are always a great place to start.
2. Close your eyes. Remind yourself that you don't always have to be looking for the Great Pyramid or Yosemite Falls.
3. Open your eyes and let your inner guidance take you on a walk.
4. Did you find a little fairy glen or a nice old tree to lean up against? Did you notice the patterns of the leaves and the flittering birds all around?
Wherever you ended up, relish in the simple pleasure of being alive, out of doors, and
free! Magical places abound, and clearly aren't limited to guidebooks of lists.
Vision Quest: Certain First Peoples strongly felt that if you are not living your vision you are living your death. Vision quests usually entails fasting for three or four days alone in nature. Vision Quests can be a powerful tool for personal transformation.
1. Leave behind your everyday life and all the things you hold tightly around you to make yourself feel safe. Find a Magical Place in nature where you will not see other humans for at least three days.
2. You must stay with your quest long enough and seriously enough to allow your physical and spiritual centers to open to the universe. For a few minutes, outside of time, you should be completely a part of the universe and not yourself at all.
3. You must re-birth yourself into the common life of the world you live in. You must carry the illumination and knowledge of those timeless moments with you always.
Note. If you are serious about a Vision Quest, use your common sense so that you do not become bear food! If you have very little experience fasting or camping alone in nature, you should consult Tom Brown's Tracker School - Tracking, Nature, and Wilderness Survival. Get high naturally, and safely.
