Long considered "lost" by the modern world, Angkor Wat is considered one of the wonders of the oriental world. Located close to the modern Cambodian town of Siem Reap, Angkor Wat and the other one hundred plus stone temples of the ancient capital of the Khmer offer visitors a truly magical encounter with a sacred site. Thought to be built between the 9th and 13th century AD, Angkor ceased to be a living city around 1431.

Western archaeologists helped to create the belief that this once thriving city was "lost" due to it's remote location and the incredible plant life which lives in, through, and around the ancient stones. The message I received while visiting Angkor Wat was most clearly communicated in the carved statues similar to the one pictured below: "Be At Peace Now".
